Getting There by Air

Which airport to fly into, from our first choice down:

  • Guadalajara (GDL) — our pick
    The most cost-effective, with direct flights. The catch: it is about a 3-hour drive to Puruándiro.

  • León / Guanajuato (BJX)
    Only about 2 hours away, but it costs more and you will usually have a layover (depends where you are flying from).

  • Querétaro (QRO)
    There is a direct flight from Denver, but flight times are limited. It is also about 2 hours away, though taxi drivers have told us that road is a bit more dangerous than the drive from Guadalajara or León.

  • ⚠️ Avoid: Morelia (MLM)
    We have heard it is dangerous and that travelers get mugged. Please do not fly into Morelia.

Local Weather

Puruándiro sits at about 1,700 m elevation — expect warm days and cool evenings. Light layers are recommended for the evening reception.

Travel Tips

  • Mexican pesos (MXN) are widely used — carry some cash for smaller towns.
  • Guadalajara (GDL) is usually the cheapest way in. León (BJX) and Querétaro (QRO) are closer but have fewer flights.
  • Uber operates in Guadalajara, León, and Querétaro; local taxis are plentiful in Puruándiro.
  • The drive into Puruándiro is scenic — consider renting a car if you would like to explore the region.
  • US cell plans with Mexico coverage (T-Mobile, AT&T) work well throughout the area.

FAQ

What is the dress code?

Semi-formal. Think cocktail attire — a nice dress, suit, or blazer. You do not need to go full black tie, but we would love for everyone to feel polished and festive. When in doubt, lean dressy.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony is at the church in Manuel Villalongín (map under Travel), and the reception is at Salón de Fiestas Oasis, an indoor venue.

Are children welcome?
